Snapchat—a Smartphone app that shares self-destructing photos—has withstood a head-on challenge from social giant Facebook.

CNBC and Financial Times say the app’s popularity among teens has made it a U.S. hit. And though Facebook has released a similar offering called Poke, it still hasn’t been able to keep up with its rival’s rising fame.
