New benchmarks on the activities of venture capitalists and private equity funds in Canada should soon be available because of a partnership between Canada’s Venture Capital & Private Equity Association and Cambridge Associates.

The venture capital association has been looking at way to improve information on the industries for the past three years.

“Our goal is to make this information available to all members of the CVCA and to ensure that the CVCA always has the most accurate and timely information available for its members and other stakeholders,” said Peter van der Velden, president of the CVCA and managing general partner of Lumira Capital Corp.

Cambridge Associates will provide the data to CVCA as a service to its members and the global PE and VC industry overall. Returns data will be disguised and aggregated to protect the confidentiality of individual funds and their underlying portfolio investments. It has similar relationships with a number of other industry associations, including the Institutional Limited Partners Association; Australian Private Equity & Venture Capital Association Limited; the African Venture Capital Association; the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association; the Asia Pacific Real Estate Association; and the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association.
