Marijuana laws in Canada will soon be getting an overhaul, report Profit and CBC.
Health Canada is taking a more hands-off approach to how medical marijuana producers are licensed, and how customers purchase the drug. At the same time, the federal government says it’s considering downgrading marijuana possession into a ticketing offense. It’s a move supported by Canada’s chiefs of police.

With greater legal access to the drug, and increased permissiveness, smoking marijuana while at work could become as common as going outside for a cigarette break and a coffee.
Employers wondering how to handle this new workplace dilemma should keep workers’ health and safety in mind, Profit reports. Second-hand smoke affects other workers and customers, while it could be disastrous for anyone in a risky or physical job to smoke up.
