John De Goey has been appointed chair of the board of directors of the FP Canada Research Foundation (formerly known as the FP Foundation), a registered charity that funds financial planning research.

De Goey, a portfolio manager with Toronto-based Wellington Altus Private Wealth, will serve as chair for the 2019-2020 fiscal year, succeeding François Beauregard.

De Goey has been a member of the foundation’s board of directors since 2017, serving most recently as vice-chair. He’s also the author of STANDUP to the Financial Services Industry: A Practical Guide For Canadians, which was published earlier this year.

Caroline Dabu, vice-president and head of enterprise wealth planning at BMO Wealth Management, has been appointed vice-chair. Carolyn Fallis, a professor at the School of Accounting and Finance at George Brown College, joins the foundation’s board as a new director. Both are based in Toronto.

Returning directors include Cary List, president and CEO of FP Canada, as secretary and treasurer; Jocelyne Houle-LeSarge, president and CEO of the Institut québécois de planification financière; and Daniel Collison, managing partner of Advice2Advisors.
