The Economist has delved into the world of crony-capitalism, where powerful friends and a flexible set of morals can help the unscrupulous amass wealth.

They’ve ranked the 23 most crony-friendly places on earth: the five largest developed nations, the 10 biggest developing nations, and 8 other nations where corruption is likely a serious problem.

Of the world’s large developed economies, The Economist says Russia is the best place to be for crony-capitalists. By contrast, France and Germany’s billionaires seem to be truly self-made.
