Carney’s UK move cost more than £100,000

The Bank of England paid more than £100,000 to move Mark Carney from Ottawa to London, reports Bloomberg.

That figure was revealed in the BoE’s annual report. The Bank says it is policy to pay senior executives’ moving costs, and it made the spending decisions. The exact cost was £102,816, reports Bloomberg.

After serving as Bank of Canada governor for five years, Carney went to the United Kingdom in 2013 to serve as England’s top banker.

Carney’s annual salary is also larger than his predecessor, Mervyn King. Carney’s total pay is £586,010. That includes a salary of £480,000, an additional 30% payment instead of a pension and a £250,000 housing allowance.
