CIBC president and CEO Victor Dodig has named the members of the bank’s new executive committee in an announcement about its new leadership structure.

That committee includes:

  • David Williamson, who’s been appointed senior executive vice-president and group head of Retail and Business Banking. Williamson will continue to execute CIBC’s client-focused strategy for Retail and Business Banking, and will also assume expanded responsibility for CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank;
  • Steve Geist, who’s been named senior executive vice-president and group head of Wealth Management. Geist assumes leadership of CIBC’s wealth management franchise in Canada and the U.S;
  • Harry Culham, who’s been named managing director and group co-head of Wholesale Banking. In this role, he’ll continue to lead CIBC’s global capital markets business as well as assume expanded responsibility for Wholesale Banking’s international business;
  • Geoff Belsher, who’s also been named managing director and group co-head of Wholesale Banking. Belsher will continue to lead CIBC’s investment banking operations, and he’ll also take on responsibility for CIBC’s corporate lending business globally;
  • Kevin Glass, who’s been named senior executive vice-president and CFO. In this role, his mandate has been expanded to include Treasury;
  • Mike Capatides, who’s been named senior executive vice-president, chief administrative officer and general counsel. In addition to his legal, human resources and compliance responsibilities, he’ll assume leadership for CIBC’s strategy and corporate development activities;
  • Laura Dottori-Attanasio, who’s been named senior executive vice-president and chief risk officer. She’ll direct CIBC’s control group; and
  • Kevin Patterson, who’s been named senior executive vice-president of Technology and Operations. He’ll expand his current technology and operations responsibilities to include the chief data office of the bank.

Additional appointments

The CIBC leadership group will also include a newly formed operating committee, which includes members of the executive committee and other key business functions. Among others, the operating committee includes:

  • Stephen Forbes, who’s been named executive vice-president of Brand, Corporate and Client Relationships. Along with his current responsibilities, he will help develop a bank-wide client coverage model for CIBC’s top clients;
  • Jackie Moss, who’s been named executive vice-president of Strategy and Corporate Development. She’ll develop a bank-wide corporate strategy working closely with the CEO and executive committee, and will identify potential acquisition opportunities; and
  • Sandy Sharman, who’s been named executive vice-president of Human Resources.
