National Bank has appointed Raymond Bachand and Karen Kinsley to its board of directors. The appointments take effect on October 29 and December 3, 2014, respectively.

Bachand is a lawyer who holds a doctorate in business administration, as well as an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Among other accomplishments, he was elected to the Quebec National Assembly in 2005, where he served in several ministerial positions that included Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports. He also presented three budgets as Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2012.

Kinsley served as president and CEO of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) from 2003 to 2013. Drawing on her background as an account, she also oversaw the implementation of a $4-billion dollar economic stimulus package that was part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan, and she’s helped create a fund to facilitate access to housing for First Nations families.
