First Nations Bank of Canada has completed its transition away from the operating systems, products and services of TD Bank.

Its primary focus is to meet the needs of the Aboriginal market, and the new operating system enables the bank to serve and grow its core audience.

The bank entered into a seven-year shared services agreement with TD in 2007, to leverage its banking systems and many of its products. But, it achieved operational self-sufficiency a full two years before the end of the agreement, says Arden Buskell, the president and COO.

First Nations Bank has opened seven full-service branches in four provinces and two territories.
