A man posing as a successful Ivy-league businessman has been convicted of defrauding several celebrities out of nearly $250,000.

The victims include former Toronto Argonauts players Michael “Pinball” Clemons and Damon Allen, as well as former child actor Ken Vadas, and former Sick Kids specialist Dr. Rahim Valani, reports thestar.com.

The Crown found Oakville, Ont. resident Walter Garrick guilty of eight counts of fraud and theft over $5,000. He deceived the four victims into investing thousands of dollars, and then spent the money on personal expenses, such as clothing and cars.

Garrick denied the charges, claiming he himself was a victim of deception. Read more.
