Canadian investors now have access to two new global funds.

In collaboration with Lazard Asset Management (LAM), Brandes Investment Partners & Co. has introduced two new LAM mutual funds to the Canadian market. They’re the Lazard Global Equity Income Fund and Lazard Emerging Markets Multi-Strategy Fund.

The equity income offering invests in high-dividend yielding securities broadly diversified across country, sector and market capitalization spectrums. They were selected for their total-return potential rather than only income.

The emerging markets fund was designed to provide investors with a less volatile means to invest in emerging market growth. It allocates capital across the markets’ equity, debt and currency strategies, and actively adjusts weightings based on an analysis and market conditions.

“In an uncertain macro environment, a value-oriented fund focused on high yield can offer the opportunity to participate in rising markets,” says LAM portfolio manager and analyst Patrick Ryan.

“Many clients acknowledge the attractive macro-economic characteristics of an emerging markets investment, but are deterred from making meaningful allocations [due to] risk,” adds LAM portfolio manager Jai Jacob.
