U.S. farmland has produced significant returns over the past few decades thanks to double digit price increases and low interest rates, reports ft.com. But some analysts are wary about whether this trend will continue.

This is due to falling U.S. crop prices, as well as the simple fact that interest rates will eventually rise. Adding to this is that U.S. farmland is expensive compared to other regions, says ft.com, so the future for this investment as a real asset may be bleak.
