The board of directors of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has designated Douglas A. Stewart as its interim president and CEO, effective June 17, 2013.

This will ensure the continuity of CMHC’s operations.

“With over 30 years of experience at CMHC, [Stewart’s] knowledge of its operations and clients will ensure [we] continues to meet corporate objectives,” says Robert P. Kelly, chairperson of CMHC’s board of directors.

Stewart has held key senior executive positions with CMHC, including vice-president of Regional Operations and Assisted Housing since 2012.

Stewart’s designation follows the departure of Karen Kinsley, whose term ends on June 16, 2013. The process to select the next permanent president and CEO is underway.
