Macquarie Private Wealth today announced the appointment of Mike Philbrick, senior vice-president and portfolio manager, as branch manager for the firm’s new Brookfield Place office in downtown Toronto.

In addition to his role as branch manager he will sit on the management committee and serve on a number of Macquarie’s internal boards and committees. Philbrick joined Macquarie Private Wealth in late 2011. He will continue as part of Butler/Philbrick/Gordillo and Associates within Macquarie Private Wealth.

“Mike is a natural leader and a perfect fit for Macquarie as we grow our presence in Canada,” said Earl Evans, CEO and head of Macquarie Private Wealth. “He has a high-profile following among clients, industry leaders and his peers. In addition, his strong track record in management proves he will excel in the task of managing competing demands as we support our existing team and recruit more advisors in the months ahead.”

The firm operates two branches in the Brookfield Place tower, with the new office located on the 33rd floor. Allan Bramson remains manager of a 44-advisor office on the 32nd floor.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me and a great time to be part of Macquarie’s dynamic leadership team,” said Philbrick. “I know my associates and I are looking forward to capitalizing on Macquarie’s global strength and strong Canadian footprint to bring exceptional wealth management service to our discerning clients.”

Macquarie passed the 200-advisor mark in December and now numbers more than 210 practitioners in 12 offices across Canada, from Victoria to Montreal.
