(London, Ont.) Advisors at the Institute of Advanced Financial Planning’s annual symposium in London, Ont. shared a laugh and some optimism that this quarter’s financial statements will be more pleasing for clients.

Said one R.F.P, “I actually can’t wait to get back to the office and send out my statements, because the clients are going to be really happy.”

While they acknowledged it’s been a long road back (and many jokes were made about the dour mood when this group convened a year ago), there was genuine optimism as well as appreciation for clients’ willingness to stick with disciplined planning.

One silver lining to the tough year is that several planners said it helped deepen relationships with clients and allowed them to show value in plans that look beyond investment choices.
