It was the closest race in Distinguished Advisor Conference history but there could only be one winner. Anthony Morris, the international practice development specialist and sales coach, was selected as the top speaker/presenter at the conference by attendees.

Based in Markham, Ontario, Morris’ business platforms have been employed in over 50 countries worldwide. His presentation on the second day of the conference offered ideas on how advisors could boost revenue, referral frequency and case size.

“It is exciting and it is humbling,” said Morris when told of the news.

Morris believes practical, sensible advice that could be immediately implemented resonated with advisors at the conference.

The rest of the field was flooded with ties across the board. Richard Croft and Robert Ironside tied for second place, with both presenting seminars on investment strategies in times of crisis. Appropriately, third place was a three way tie between Ron Thiessen, Doug Nelson’s panel presentation and Evelyn Jacks. Fourth and fifth places were between Chad Coe, David Christianson and Alan Rowell, Jenifer Bartman, respectively.

The Knowledge Bureau has already announced the 2010 conference will take place from November 14 to 17 in Orlando, Florida. The focus of the conference will be on family and understanding intergenerational clients. The Knowledge Bureau itself is looking for suggestions for topics and themes that could be explored at the conference.

“As program director I would be pleased to hear about the issues advisors struggle with personally and in the context of their business when the focus is on the family,” said Evelyn Jacks, president of the Knowledge Bureau. “They would have direct impact on DAC programming if they could help us see the depth of the issue for them through the lens of the many generations they serve.”
