More consumers are shopping from the convenience of their homes. But as online shopping becomes more popular across the globe, delivering goods can be a real pain in emerging markets like India, reports The Wall Street Journal.
That’s because the country’s infrastructure and populous cities make it difficult to get around. Most residents opt to drive motorcycles and scooters to ease their commutes –India’s deliverymen are no different, hauling goods in backpacks.
Add the fact that Morgan Stanley estimates Indian online sales will hit $100 billion a year by 2020, reports The Wall Street Journal, and the country’s e-commerce delivery model may need a reboot.
