Scotiabank and QED Investors have partnered to support select Latin American fintech companies. The joint investment will create a venture capital platform to identify, invest in and promote the growth of start-ups across the fintech spectrum in Latin America.

As the manager of the fund, QED Investors will bring its expertise. Scotiabank will assist QED Investors in its evaluation of potential investments in the Pacific Alliance countries (Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru). This fund will seek out companies in Latin American countries that are focused on financial technology disruption.

Up to now, QED has made investments in the U.S. and nternational fintech industry. And, over the last two years, the firm has built a Latin American portfolio, which includes NuBank, Guiabolso, Pitzi and Bankfacil in Brazil. The firm has recently expanded this model to Mexico through investment in Konfio.
