CRA is extending the tax deadline to May 5 because the agency accidentally told some tax preparers the wrong date, CTV news reports.
The agency sent tax preparers a notice stating the tax filing deadline was May 5, instead of April 30. CRA told CTV the mistake was due to human error.

Canadians can now file until May 5 without being penalized.
Last year, CRA extended the filing deadline to May 5 when its systems were affected by the Heartbleed computer virus.
