Smoking may be even more costly than you think.
The habit can also lower the resale value of your client’s homes, finds a study by the BC Lung Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation
“Our survey findings suggest that in addition to undermining health, homeowners who smoke are burning a hole in their pocketbooks,” says Scott McDonald, CEO of the BC Lung Association in a release.
In fact, the survey finds that more than half of B.C. realtors say a home’s value can decrease by about 10% if the current owner smokes. And selling it can be even more difficult — 76% of realtors say buyers are less likely to purchase the home.
