After Japan was rocked by an earthquake, tsunami and an ensuing nuclear meltdown in 2011, then-prime-minister Naoto Kan transformed Japan’s energy policy, reports Canadian Business.
At the time, Japan was the third-largest producer of nuclear power in the world, but even before the meltdown following the Sendai earthquake, the Japanese were wary of nuclear power due to the WWII nuclear bombings, CB reports.
In response, Japan has now surpassed Germany as the world’s largest photovoltaics market by revenue this year.
