Part of the evening’s success is determined before you leave home—when you’re deciding what to wear, says Entrepreneur. Suits, or at least a jacket, are still expected for a business dinner. Women could also wear a dress and closed-toe shoes.

And even though you’ll be tempted to check your phone for work emails, refrain. It’s rude to your dinner companions.

If you plan to conduct business at the meal, don’t bring it up until after the main course is finished.

As the host, arrange payment with the restaurant before the meal, because the person who invites is the one who pays.
