Offices are replete with grubby photocopier buttons and manky doorways known for harbouring germs.

And it’s easier than we realize for germs to infect an entire workplace once they’re in a single high-traffic area, shows a study reported by New York magazine.

Scientists tracked how viruses present on a doorknob or table spread throughout an entire building, reports New York. They found that within two to four hours, 40% to 60% of people and commonly handled items had picked up the bugs.
