Forget the standard interview and reference check, online retailer Amazon has an unorthodox way of filling management and other mid-level jobs.
The company asks people from all over the company, called bar-raisers, to interview the potential hire, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The bar-raisers have other full-time positions inside the company, and their experience is important to the hiring process. They have already interviewed dozens of people, and have a reputation for hiring stars and asking tough questions.
But it takes longer than the usual hiring methods, and now that Amazon has grown to 110,000, it’s taking a toll on the company’s resources, reports the WSJ.
