Panama is the best place for expats to retire, finds International Living’s annual global retirement index.

The site says Panama City offers a high standard of living, proximity to the U.S., affordability, and English is widely understood.

Runner-up on the list is Ecuador. Other countries on the list include Spain and Cambodia.

The index weighs factors like climate, affordability, ease of gaining residency, health care, real estate and standard of living.
