The Olympics haven’t started, but Canada’s already won gold.

Dave Pettenuzzo, a Victoria, B.C.-based advisor with National Bank, topped the podium in the 2012 World Ultimate and Guts Championship, held in Osaka, Japan July 7 to 14.

Pettenuzzo is a member of Team Canada Open Master, which beat Australia in a thrilling final.

Canada finished the tournament as the only country to win a medal in each of the five tournament divisions, while tying for the most gold medals.

Team Canada Mixed and Open Master won gold, Women Master earned silver, and Open and Women brought home bronze.
