Sun Life is appointing Carl Bang president of Sun Life Investment Management.
Bang is now responsible for investment strategy, product, business development, client relationships and operations for Sun Life’s new third-party asset management business in Canada.

Bang’s background is in building investment strategies and operations. He was previously Chief Investment Officer of the Qatar Foundation Endowment, one of the largest endowment funds in the world. Before that, Bang was chairman and chief executive officer of State Street Global Advisors. He’s also been president, senior managing director and chief investment officer for SSGA Canada.

Sun Life launched its investment management company on April 1. It offers three funds focusing on private fixed income, commercial mortgages and real estate assets. It also provides asset management and investment advisory services to managed accounts.
Carl holds an M.B.A. from the Schulich School of Business and is a CFA Charterholder.
