On January 15, 2014, OSC is hosting a seminar to go over the requirements of its new derivatives trade repositories and data reporting rule.

The rule was introduced on November 14, 2013, and the commission says it represents the first set of harmonized derivatives rules for Ontario, as well as one of the most important elements of global OTC derivatives reform. The reporting obligations of the OSC rule will be implemented on July 2, 2014, so OSC wants to help market participants meet those requirements.

The seminar will cover four key areas: how to report transactions; the end user obligations of the rule; OSC’s tips for ensuring dealer compliance; and reporting fields.

Seminar attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the rule. They’ll also hear from other participants about their experience and best practices in responding to derivatives reporting changes.

The seminar will take place Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at OSC’s offices in Toronto. Interested participants are asked to RSVP to Marie Martinez at mmartinez@osc.gov.on.ca by January 10, 2014.
