In London, U.K., some middle-class citizens are moving out of the country so they can afford better homes, reports Maclean’s. The twist? They keep their jobs and opt for longer commutes.

One “super commuter” says he and his family had outgrown their two-bedroom flat in northwest London. But they couldn’t afford a bigger place in their neighbourhood, and didn’t like any of the areas where they could buy.

He joked it would be cheaper to rent his flat, move to Barcelona and commute to work in London — and he was right, thanks in part to cheap airfare in Europe. Now, he commutes from Mallorca, Spain to London on Monday, stays with relatives and returns home on Thursday.
