The Financial Times reports the U.S. Federal Communication Commission is looking to avoid a Wi-Fi “traffic jam” by opening up “a ‘significant tranche’ of additional spectrum.”

“The FCC chairman also warned that the US needed to step up efforts to provide faster broadband internet speeds to consumers and businesses. He said the US needed more gigabit broadband test beds – such as Google’s trail of a gigabit network in Kansas – to keep pace with similar initiatives overseas,” the report says.
