First Trust Portfolios Canada Co., an affiliate of U.S.-registered First Trust Portfolios L.P., is set to launch its first suite of Canadian-domiciled ETFs.

The company has filed a preliminary prospectus, still subject to completion or amendment, with the securities regulatory authorities in Canada for five ETFs.

The lineup, which includes equity and fixed-income ETFs, include:

First Trust AlphaDEX Canadian Dividend Plus ETF: Provides exposure to higher yielding Canadian dividend paying stocks and offers monthly distributions. For additional income, the ETF will occasionally write covered call options on a portion of the portfolio.

First Trust AlphaDEX U.S. Dividend Plus ETF (CAD-hedged): Provides exposure to higher yielding U.S. dividend paying stocks and offers monthly distributions. For additional income, the ETF will occasionally write covered call options on a portion of the portfolio.

First Trust AlphaDEX Emerging Market Dividend ETF (CAD-hedged): Provides exposure to dividend paying emerging market equities and monthly distributions.

First Trust AlphaDEX Global Energy Income Plus ETF (CAD-hedged): Offers exposure to higher yielding energy issuers from the crude oil and natural gas industries, and provides monthly distributions.

First Trust Senior Loan ETF (CAD-hedged): Offers exposure to senior floating rate loans and debt securities, with capital appreciation as a secondary objective.
