Assets invested in ETFs and ETPs listed globally reached a record high of US$3.143 trillion in May, according to preliminary data from an ETFGI May 2016 insights report.

Record levels of assets invested in ETFs and ETPs were also reached at the end of May for funds listed in the U.S. (US$2.229 trillion) and Japan (US$147 billion).

Overall, ETFs gathered net inflows of US$10.60 billion last month. Fixed-income funds and products gathered the largest net inflows (US$7.47 billion), followed by commodity funds (US$5.47 billion). Equity funds experienced net outflows of US$4.53 billion.
