Phil “The Thrill” Mickelson pulled off two consecutive wins in Scotland over the past two weeks, but Lefty and his countless fans aren’t the only ones celebrating.
Forbes.com reports the hall of famer is on the hook with the taxman for a jaw-dropping 61% of his winnings.

Victories at the Scottish Open and the Open Championship earned the short-game wizard more than $2 million.
“Without considering expenses, Mickelson will pay 61.12% taxes on his winnings, bringing his net take-home winnings to about $842,700. When expenses are considered (10% to caddy Jim “Bones” Mackay, airfare, hotel, meals, agent fees on endorsement income/bonuses—all tax deductible here and in the UK), his take-home will fall closer to 30%,” explains the report.
