Manulife has appointed Linda Mantia as senior executive vice-president and chief operating officer.

The appointment is effective October 3, the company says.

A release says Paul Rooney, current COO who has been with the company since 1986, “has made the decision to leave the company,” and will stay on until the end of December to ensure a smooth transition.

Mantia previously served as executive vice president of digital, payments and cards at Royal Bank of Canada. Her previous experience is with consulting firm McKinsey & Co. and as a corporate securities lawyer for Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP.
