TD Bank Group chief executive Ed Clark announced his retirement effective November 1, 2014.

Clark will be succeeded by Bharat Masrani, group head U.S. personal and commercial banking, TD Bank Group, who will take over as the group’s president and CEO on the day of Clark’s retirement. Clark has served as CEO since 2002.

“Bharat brings a continuity of strategy, culture and values shared by the entire board and senior executive team,” says Clark. “Under his leadership, TD will continue to meet the needs of our 22 million customers and remain an employer of choice for our more than 85,000 employees.”

Clark will remain a director until TD’s 2015 annual meeting.
