The TD Bank has drawn the ire of a U.S. politician over allegations that the bank finances Smith & Wesson, maker of the AR-15, a gun used in the mass killing at a theater in Aurora.

A report in The Vancouver Sun says Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel asked the bank’s U.S. subsidiary to refrain from supporting the “gun manufacturing industry through a $60-million revolving line of credit with Smith & Wesson.”

While the report contains quotes from Emanuel’s letter to TD CEO Bharat Masrani, it says TD Bank declined to comment on the matter.
