Toronto CFA Society has announced four new members to its board of directors following last week’s election meeting.

“This year Toronto CFA Society celebrates 75 years of commitment to high ethical standards and a dedication to volunteerism in the financial community,” said Frederick M. Pinto, MBA, CFA, Toronto CFA Society board president.

The new members are:

Randy Cass, LL.B., CFA – Board Member at Large Randy Cass founded First Coverage, a financial services software company in 2006. First Coverage was acquired by London based YouDevise in 2011. Randy began his career as a derivatives trader at TD Securities and then moved to managing portfolios at the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board. In addition to his experience in the institutional investment industry, Randy is also an attorney, having earned his law degree from the University of Toronto and being called to the bar as a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and earned an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, where he graduated on the Dean’s List. Randy appears frequently on TV to discuss market issues and is quoted often in the Wall Street Journal, Barrons, New York Times and the National Post.

Christy DeCosimo, CFA – Chair, Awards and University Relations Christy is currently an investment advisor at BMO Nesbitt Burns. She holds an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario and was awarded the CFA designation in 2006. Christy has been an active member of the society’s university relations committee since 2007.

Ellen Lee, CA, CFA – Chair, External Relations & Advocacy Ellen works in the Enterprise Risk Governance team of TD Bank as senior manager supporting its risk governance and risk appetite frameworks. Her prior experiences include trade management oversight at TD Asset Management, Market Regulation at the Ontario Securities Commission, and Regulatory Relations at Merrill Lynch, New York. She currently sits on the Investment and Finance Committee of the Fu Hui Education Foundation. She completed her Master of Accounting degree from the University of Waterloo and her Master of Laws degree from the Osgoode LL.M. program in securities law.

Mark Tyler, CA, CFA, CBV – Secretary-Treasurer Mark is an finance professional with significant international accounting and finance experience, including 10 years in M&A and investment activities. Mark has held progressively senior roles in organizations such as Symcor Inc. and Nortel Networks Corporation. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Carlton University, is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Business Valuator, and a CFA charterholder. Mark has been a member of the society’s finance committee since its creation and has served on finance committees and boards of different charities and not-for-profit organizations.

The society also expressed its gratitude to Sean Cleary, CFA, Brenda King, CFA, Alex Lucas, CFA, Mary Robertson, CFA, Steven Rostowsky, CFA and Brian Shaw, CFA who have completed their terms on Toronto CFA Society’s board of directors.
